SOPHIE CARTER
After graduating from WAAPA in 2003, Sophie went on to enjoy a 20 year career in the professional performing arts industry, mostly in the music theatre sector. Sophie recently retrained as a qualified counsellor and coach, opening my private practice, Centred Stage, in 2022 that focusses on mental health and well-being support specifically for those in the arts industry.
Sophie is a passionate advocate for appropriate mental health support in the sector. This is evident in her development of mental health workshops, which she presents to drama and dance schools throughout Sydney and Melbourne, her role as co-chair of MEAA’s Wellness Committee, the mental health articles she writes for the MEAA magazine, her push for better support in the professional workplace, and her work with 1-1 clients through Centred Stage.
